The World Snooker Rankings' Top 10 Players

The official ranking system for professional players in snooker is the world snooker rankings. They decide who qualifies for World Snooker Tour tournaments. The rankings are maintained by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association provides useful statistics on the sport, as well as providing players with an idea how they rank.

Judd Trump

Judd Trump is among the top ten in world snooker rankings. He is well-known for his incredible breaks and ability to dominate the sport. He has won 23 ranking titles including the world championship. At only 33 years of age, he is still young and could continue to be a top player in the sport for at least ten more years. But, he may feel tired from the grind of touring and his age.

Mark Selby

Mark Selby from England is one the most renowned players in the game. He is an English Under-15 champion, and a recent World Snooker Championship champ. He is also an avid pool player. He won the 2006 WEPF eight ball pool championship. He also finished in the finals of the 2015 Chinese Pool World Championship. Selby hails originally from Leicester, England. Malcolm Thorne, Willie Thorne's brother, was Selby’s coach.

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan is currently ranked number one in the world snooker rankings after spending 280 weeks there. After reaching the semifinals of Tour Championship, Ronnie O'Sullivan's most recent move saw him leapfrog Mark Selby in world ranked. The Scot was first ranked number one on the world stage in May 2002. He has since claimed 31 ranking titles. He has won six World Championship titles as well as five UK Championships.


Mark Williams

Mark Williams is currently the number 10 ranking snooker player in the world. The Welshman first broke into the world's elite in 1995, when he won the Welsh Open and Benson & Hedges Masters. The latter title was won by him with a respotted Black in the final. He was the fourth player who won three ranking championships in 1998.

Graeme Dott

Graeme Dott was awarded two ranking titles. In 2010, he reached the final of China Open. Since then, however, his form was inconsistent. He has spoken out about his struggle with depression. The Australian is ranked low in world snooker rankings but has a strong home record.

Dotts's Career

Graeme Dott's climb up the world snooker rankings has been steady since 1994 when he became a professional. He was ranked in the top sixteen for 2001 and stayed there through 2009. He reached the quarterfinals at the Welsh Open in 1996, and the World Championship 1997. He also finished second in the 1999 Scottish Open as well as the 2001 British Open. He was also runner up at the 2004 World Championship as well as the 2005 Malta Cup. 1999 was his first competitive 147 break.

Dott's ranking

Dott has had a fluctuating ranking in world snooker rankings over the years. He has reached the top 16 on six occasions. He was number 2 in the 2007/8 Season. Dott has been ranked lower since 2007.

Mark Williams' ranking

Over the last few years, Mark Williams has seen his world ranking in snooker steadily rise. He has won a variety of tournaments including the Players Championship Grand Finals 2000. In the final, he also beat Ronnie O'Sullivan. He has been ranked number one in the world on numerous occasions. However, his biggest ranking victory came in 2001, when he defeated Anthony Hamilton in the final of the China Open.
