Steve Davis was a dominant force in the early days of snooker's popularity as a major TV sport. He became six-time world champion during his career and won several ranking event titles. He is an accomplished and well-respected snooker player. He also plays poker. Davis is also the author of several books that cover his career and his position as director at WPBSA. His roles as a television commentator, director of Cue Zone Into Schools and a director has contributed to his wealth.

At 17 years of age, Steve Davis made his first professional appearance. He made his debut at a ranking competition, the Pontin Open. Tony Meo beat Davis. After his first season as a professional, Davis won several titles, including three B&H Masters at Wembley.

After a slow start to his professional career, Davis regained his status as the world's best snooker player. He won five World Titles in 1988 and 1989. He also became the first person to win the Triple Crown the same season. He was also the first to win both a UK Championship and a world title in the same season. He also won many other tournaments in the 1980s.

The 1990s saw Davis' dominance wane, and he lost a lot of records to Stephen Hendry. He lost the World Championship to Jimmy White which saw him fall to number two on the official rankings. In 1997, Davis lost to Ronnie O'Sullivan and was unable to defend the title. This loss led to his slipping out of the top 16 rankings for the first time in many years.


After a slow start to his second season, Davis began to show signs of improvement. He reached both the quarter-finals and finals of the Shanghai Masters and Grand Prix. In 1988, he was named BBC Sports Personality and Year. He received the OBE in 2001 for his services to snooker. He is also a passionate poker player. In fact, he hosts a weekly radio show called Phoenix FM. In 2010, he appeared at The Crucible for the 30th time.

The following season, Davis remained on the top of the world rankings. He won many ranking event titles and reached finals at the Welsh Open. His greatest achievement was however, being able stay in the top sixteen on his 50th. He was also an active participant in the PTC circuit, winning the 2012 PTC Masters. He was among three players who reached three consecutive PTC quarter-finals within a single season.

He was also a successful commentator who hosted many snooker matches for BBC. He is passionate about music and a skilled poker player. He has a partner and two sons. He is also a DJ. He is currently worth PS30 million, if he is still employed by the BBC.
