Cutthroat pool, which can be played by up to five people, is a fun and entertaining game. The rules are similar to 8-ball pool, where each player gets a set and the other has to take their ball. There are additional rules, however, that differ from 8 ball pool.
Players must agree when shots will be taken and assign balls to groups. Each group is made up of numbered balls, from 1 to 5 in each group. The first player to make a ball chooses a set of balls to shoot for and the rest of the players can start shooting once that player has made the first shot.
Cutthroat players must remember that the cueball must be placed between the table rail and the head cushion. Fouls are committed by players who accidentally lift the cueball from the table. When a foul occurs, the player must re-spot the ball back on the table and lose their turn.

Cutthroat is played using a triangular-shaped rack. Players usually rack one ball in front of them, and the remaining balls are placed in the corners of the triangle. The number of players in the game will determine which corners are racked. Players need to decide beforehand how they will call their shots in order to avoid a messy break.
Each player will typically take turns calling their shots. Players can only stop after a foul occurs. There are several rules that dictate the manner in which balls are spotted. If the ball is spotted on its shooter's side, it must be spotted on the rail with the object on its side. This will increase the chance that the shooter makes a score and make it difficult for the other players run the ball out.
There is no draw in cutthroat. A draw is when the shooter and the opponent's ball make contact with each other and are both pocketed. Cutthroat is not a game of draws. If a ball is not spotted, the players will accept it as a group.
Cutthroat is fast-paced and requires players to shoot constantly. Cutthroat's primary goal is to be the last remaining player. When this goal has been achieved, the player wins.

Playing cutthroat with more than three players is the best way to go. You can also play with teams of up to two, depending on how many players you have. Teams have a higher chance of winning if all of their players are good at the game, but it can be a lot of fun to play with just two or three. As with most pool games, there are some simple rules to follow, and a few more advanced strategies to consider. You can also learn new skills while having a lot of fun.
