Peter Lines - Snooker Player Award of the Year

snooker scores today

Peter Lines has enjoyed a long career playing snooker. He was a finalist in the English Amateur Championship and reached the quarter-finals at the China Open in 1999. His success on the professional circuit began in 1991, when he turned professional. In the 1990s, he reached the quarter-finals in both the Strachan Open (Asian Open) and Strachan Open. In 1998, he qualified for the televised stages of the World Championship for the first time.

His career is not particularly noteworthy, but Lines' career performance over the last few years has been exceptional. Lines reached the top 64 of Order of Merit and even made it to the quarterfinals of a ranking competition for the first-time in his career. His most impressive season was the run at German Masters. There he reached semi-finals and nearly won.

He found himself suddenly under pressure after a promising start for his 2011/12 season. As the season progressed, the pressure increased and he began to lose matches at his four ranking events. He was only ranked 57th on European Tour at the end of the season. He was able to qualify for the World Championship qualifiers and secured a spot on the European Tour for another year.

He won two more major tournaments and defeated Joe Perry and Ian McCulloch. He also won a qualifier to the Players Tour Championship (PTC), however, his performance was not good enough to keep the tour open for him.

In 2010, he won a UK Championship. But, he was again demoted to the PTC after the 2015/16 year. He continues to participate in amateur tournaments.

Lines' behavior during a match in China has been ruled inappropriate by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. A complaint was sent to the World Snooker Tour, who has launched a thorough investigation into his actions. The World Snooker Tribunal will likely be referred to the formal complaint made by Xiao Guodong's staff.

The case was heard December 16th, and Lines was sentenced by the WPBSA to a $500 fine. But, Lines was found guilty in two cases relating to player conduct.

His replacement of the white cue ball after a foul was called for in the first rule. In this situation, professional players are not uncommon to temporarily hang up their cues. Lines' opponent, Brendan Moore, clashed with him over this issue. Both claimed Lines made an error. Lines, however, maintained that he was right.

The World Snooker Tour, on the other hand, stated that Lines used "swear words" and intimidation during the match. Moreover, Lines threatened to fight outside the arena.
