The Dynamic Billard Veldhoven Open has reached its final phase and Shane Van Boening is still in the running for the title. American had won the Predator World-10-ball Championship last year. Joshua Filler (reigning World Pool and Billiards Association nine-ball champion) will be his opponent in the final. Both men had survived challenging draw conditions, though. Filler won against Gerson Martinez, Peru. Van Boening faced Fedor Gorst, Russia. Filler was able to win the second phase matches by four games.
Van Boening was ranked as the top seed in 64-player bracket. He spent hours practicing his break shot in Qatar. This helped him breeze through his first four opponents, which he won by a combined score of 44-14. He beat Orcollo the first round and then defeated David Alcaide the second round.
